I am 69 years old, retired and have been a client of Teneka Hyndman (Personal Trainer) since January 2012. At that time my primary objective was to get fit following breast cancer treatment. Over time, this came to include weight loss and better health, as a focus of importance. As a result, I have lost up to 15kg to date. Teneka supported me during this time with encouragement, suggestions, home and holiday training programmes. These programmes were adjusted as required when I was injured and when my health was further compromised by cancer. Teneka is always professional, very knowledgeable about the human body, training principles, and has diverse knowledge with machines, free weights, and cables. Her passion for Pilates exercises, has also greatly assisted our training sessions, we try to incorporate functional movement with ‘balance’, as an added challenge within each session.

If you are looking for strength training and looking to achieve your personal goals Teneka is the personal trainer for you. I have trained with Teneka for quite a number years now and during that time she has helped me to develop the strength and endurance I needed to compete and win at a world level event. Teneka has understood and adapted my training over the years as I refocused on a different sporting discipline and importantly has always modified my training when I was injured or fatigued. If you are serious about achieving your personal goals be they to win gold or to simply train for living life, Teneka can help you with the challenges that life can and usually does throw at you on your journey to achievement.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Teneka since February 2014. I joined the gym at Dolphins Health Precinct in Redcliffe at this time and signed on with Teneka for a personal training session. Since then, Teneka has become my personal trainer and good friend. At the end of 2014 I became involved in the sport of Dragon Boat Racing – Teneka became instrumental in training me specifically for this sport to increase my strength, stamina and overall fitness. She has been with me every step of the way on my personal journey within this sport. I am constantly impressed with Teneka’s wide range of knowledge in the fields of nutrition and exercise. She is constantly finds different ways to work a body part so that you are always interested and working to your full potential, and ensuring you are following this up with a healthy diet and lifestyle. Always mindful of any injuries you might have, she adapts your exercise accordingly, but ensures that you receive an intensive workout. Her patience is unlimited, not only putting up with my grumblings, but also correcting my technique and encouraging me on my not so good days. Through Teneka’s training she has prepared me for my major sporting events – our annual regatta season and both states and national regattas. She has also worked with me to meet physical fitness tests on both state and national levels – I have been successful in representing my state of Queensland for 4 consecutive years, reached the final selection for the Australian team and been selected in two Australian based teams to compete in the bi-annual Club Crew World Championships held in Hungary and France. Without Teneka’s time, efforts and attention to personal training I doubt these goals would have been within reach. We have done a lot of hard work over the past 6 years, but we have always had fun. It is definitely my favourite way to start the day. I count myself as being most fortunate to have such a special person and friend in my life. I would recommend Teneka to anyone looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable trainer who can make getting stronger and healthier a fun and rewarding journey.
